Boom Boom! Revolution

Yeah, okay…

so we had a little “work” done. We’re pretty excited about it and think you will be too.

Now, if you’re the “explore for yourself”, independent type, feel free to poke around and check out all the changes, ‘cause there’s quite a few! However, if you are more inclined to need a little more direction, this post is for you. It lays out what’s new, what’s different and how to use it all.

Worldwide Boom Booms!
Yes, that tab is still there, although you might notice it looks a little different. This page is now the home page and where you’ll see all the latest action from the front lines. It’s where every post shows up no matter where in the world it’s posted or who posted it. The other thing that’s new and cool is that you can filter through all the posts in a bunch of new, cool ways. Seriously, check it out. We’re pretty pumped up about it.

My Decks
Yep, this tab is still there too, but the page has got tons more cool stuff than before, like the “Say Something Good” box at the top of the page. This is your place to tell the Boom Boom! Community what’s good. It can be about you, the world, someone else, a quote  you like…doesn’t matter. Just say something good. It will show up in the activity stream on the home page along with all the Boom Boom! posts; here, people can comment on your good status and let you know they’re stoked about it. You can also post your good status straight to Facebook and Twitter and let everyone know what’s good!

Of course, you’ll still play and keep track of all your Boom Boom! Cards here, so you know which ones you’ve done and what you’ve left to do, but now you can also filter through them just like you can on the main page. You’ll also notice the stream on the lower right called “Who Loves Ya?” This is the new way to keep track of the comments you’ve gotten on either your Boom Boom! Posts or your “Say Something Good” updates.

And, there’s a New Card!
It’s called Everyday Boom Boom! What’s it for? It’s for that everyday occurrence when you witness, experience or perform a Boom Boom! that’s not represented in one of the cards. Say you see a truly fantastic feat of Boom Boom!, like someone gathering all the shopping carts in the parking lot and putting them back, or someone buys YOU a cup of coffee out of the blue. What do you do? You let others know about it by posting an Everyday Boom Boom! That’s what.

My People
This is a brand new tab and it’s the place to keep track of Boom Booms! posts exclusively from friends or fans (more on who they are and how you get them below). Here you can also filter and search through their Boom Booms!, accept friend requests, read and send messages to your friends as well as check out who your latest fans are.

You, yes YOU, will have fans!
It’s true. People will become fans of yours and you will become fans of others. What’s this mean? It simply means that if you read a post you like or a “Say Something Good” that resonates with you, you can fan the person who did or said it. That way their posts will show up in the stream on your “My People” page; this means you will be guaranteed to see their latest act of awesome, whatever it is. To fan someone, go to their profile by clicking on their name; in the upper right hand you’ll see, “Become a Fan,” click that and voila! You are their latest fan. And, just watch. People will fan you too.

How to Make Friends
It’s easy. Just do like mom used to tell you: be nice. Well, that and click the “Add as Friend” button on the right hand side of anyone’s profile page. What’s it mean to be a friend? Well, you get to be the first to read their posts and when you are a friend of someone, you can message them directly on the site and give them an extra special dose of Boom Boom!

Profile Page
Big news! You can go to people’s profiles now! How cool is that? Yep, you can see who they are and find out a bit about them (only what they want you to know, however). So, you know what this means…you better high tail it over to your own profile page and spruce it up. Seriously, upload a picture, fill out the bio, give it some personality so people get a sense of who you are.  If you already have a profile picture that you uploaded before, it will still show up, but it will stay the current size. To have it be bigger and crystal clear, upload a new one…go on, put your best face forward! (or your dog, or cat’s if you are concerned about privacy).

Settings, privacy, email notifications and other important stuff
When you are on your profile page, you will see a tab called, “Edit My Account Settings”, this is the place to go to make sure your settings are what you want them to be. Here you can decide how public you want to be, you can reset your password, change your user name, write a little bio about who you are, decide what email notifications you want to receive and generally take care of your behind the scenes business!

By the way, about your “user name”… you might notice that you no longer have both a log in and user name, we simplified things so you only have to remember one name. If you like your current user name, great, keep it. If not, you can change it here!
